5 Ways to Avoid Workplace Drama

Let’s face it drama in our workplace is bound to happen. And I know that taking the high road is sometimes easier said than done. However, it’s always better to set an example and treat others the way you want to be treated.

5 Ways to Avoid Work Place Drama

avoid the drama at work1. Brush it Off

If someone compares you or literally goes out of their way to make snarky remarks to you, brush it off! You know who you are. Just like the famous saying goes, “If you have haters, you must be doing something right.”

2. Don’t Take it Personally

Don’t take things personally! What other people think or feel has nothing to do with you.

Not included? That’s ok. Did someone not smile back at you? Maybe they’re just having a bad day. Is someone talking bad about you? Maybe just being mean or putting other people down makes that person feel better. It’s not right… but don’t take it personally because that’s a reflection of them, not you. Don’t stoop to their level.

3. Don’t Get Involved

Sometimes at work you can find yourself in the middle of a gossip session and someone may ask, “How do you feel about so and so” or “What do you think about all this?” Remember, don’t get involved with the drama. Whatever you say can be misconstrued by someone else. Keep your feeling to yourself and keep being kind.

4. Walk Away

I don’t have time for drama.” The quickest way to avoid workplace drama is to walk away from it. Focus on the task at hand. There is always something to be done or to keep busy with.

5. Keep a Positive Attitude

You don’t have to be friends with everyone you work with. Not everyone is going to like you or each other and that’s ok. Always keep a positive attitude by looking on the bright side, staying humble, and being thankful. When you feel good, others can too. Be the light. You got this!
