Summer has officially begun, and so has the rise of triple-degree weather!
According to the El Paso Office of Emergency Management, the city is offering the community help as temperatures are forecasted to reach triple digits!
How the City Is Offering Help:
The city has decided to open free cooling stations, and sunscreen dispensers to help the community. In addition, they are offering free fans to eligible families.

Free Cooling Stations During Triple-Digit Temperatures
- Galatzan Rec Center
- Chalio Acosta Sports Center
- Veterans Rec Center
- Chamizal Rec Center
- Valle Bajo Community Center
- Marty Robins Rec Center
Hours of Operations:
Monday- Thursday: 9a.m- 8p.m
Friday-Sunday: 12p.m-7p.m
Sunscreen Dispensers
Local organizations have partnered with the city to offer free sunscreen dispensers to the community.
“The Sun Smart campaign – partnership with the Rio Grande Cancer foundation and the City of El Paso is aimed to provide sunscreen dispensers for our most vulnerable population – our children.”
Where/How to find them:
- Look for the bright yellow dispensers.
- They are along the Playa Drain Trail, a city-wide trail beginning at Ascarate Park.
- You can also find them at city spray parks and public gathering places.
Assistance for a Free Fan
If you’re in need of something to keep you cool as temperatures rise, call 211 to check your eligibility and receive a free fan.
